Mergers and acquisitions (M&A) can be a source of tremendous shareholder value creation, which is why more corporates are embracing this as their primary growth strategy. Most acquisitions, however, do not create shareholder value. This may come as a surprise to the asual observer but a mere understanding of the different complexities when it comes to M&A sheds more light on what it takes to extract excess value from the process.
The pursuit of synergy benefits should be the central focus in M&A transactions. This requires a pre-determined strategy on how to source the appropriate target, design the transaction and integrate for maximum value.
By attending this webinar you will:
- Establish a thorough understanding of the essential elements for a successful acquisition
- Get exposure to transaction risk mitigation and structuring techniques
- Analyse the relationship between transaction price and intrinsic value of the business targeted for acquisition with specific reference to different valuation methods and reasonableness tests

Johann de Lange, Founder, Intellifin & Pollination Capital
Johann de Lange is the founder and owner of Intellifin and Pollination Capital. As an M&A transaction advisor he has a special interest in engineering and realising synergy benefits for clients, as a direct result of the acquisition.
Johann has been involved in corporate finance since 1998, with experience in listings, mergers and acquisitions, management buy-outs, leverage buy-outs, private equity, capital raising and much more. He founded Intellifin in 2003 and started consulting to various medium to large companies on corporate finance matters such as valuations, due diligence, transaction structuring and M&A transaction facilitation.
As the company evolved, Intellifin found its focus falling more and more on facilitating and bringing value to M&A transactions for its clients – mostly corporate acquirers but also business sellers. These services are now the particular focus of Pollination Capital (Pty) Ltd, a company established in 2013 by Johann to differentiate from Intellifin’s financial consulting services.
Johann is a seasoned speaker and shares his research results and practical experience on a regular basis. He has presented at more than 60 corporate finance-focused seminars, conferences and workshops since 2008 – in South Africa’s major business centres and abroad, in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Adding to his Chartered Accountant qualification, Johann completed a Master’s Degree in Financial Management in 2006. He has lectured corporate finance university students and is a contributing author in a university textbook for commerce students.
